Fashion Friday #8

Hey guys! I've got a Fashion Friday collab post for you all today! This week is all about stripes and color blocking. Both are very popular fashion trends and can easily translate to nail art!
Maybelline Color Show - Paint The Town
O.P.I. - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Black Out
Striping Tape
The overall look of the outfit Camille put together has a distinct retro feel, and a classic color combo of red, black and white, really carries that vibe. I love the simple and graphic look of the stripes paired with the red nails.

Zoya Pixie Dust - Beatrix
Zoya Pixie Dust - Destiny
Zoya Pixie Dust - Solange
Striping Tape
I must say, the earrings in this particular post, are frickin' awesome. I need a pair myself! Even better when I can use the Pixie Dust polishes to make some badass color blocking designs to go with them! I have seen quite a bit of nail art done with Pixie Dust polishes lately, and I can certainly see why. They are ridiculously easy to use and look fantastic; very visually appealing.

More fun coming up this next week! I have another textured polish review for you guys, as well as, some Born Pretty studs and of course the 31 Day Challenge continues! On time...hopefully...

And be sure to give Camille's style blog some love. Especially if you have a soft spot for great hand made accessories!

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Floral

Second post today! Floral is the theme for this post, and I was inspired by this poppy design from Little Nails. I actually found it via Pinterest and had to do some digging to find the proper source, as it wasn't credited at all. I love using Pinterest for nail art inspiration, but jeeze it can be difficult to find the original artist.

O.P.I. - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
Maybelline Color Show - Paint The Town
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Black Out
Revlon - Posh
Dotting Tool
Nail Art Brush
I really love poppies. They are so simple, yet so beautiful at the same time. Overall, I am really pleased with how this turned out. I kinda wish I had made different colored poppies, but was feeling completely uninspired at the time. Still pretty, I think.

A new Fashion Friday collab post is on the schedule for tomorrow, and it's pretty dang awesome!

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Animal Print

Hey guys! So I am off schedule again, but that is all due to this particular challenge prompt. I have no love for animal print. Especially since I cannot do it free hand. This may be the first time in the challenge where it just wasn't working out at all. I have done 3 manis, all different and none of them have come out looking how I want. This is the best one, and since I am behind, I said "screw it" and decided to post anyway. Okay, enough of the complaining.
Zoya - Tracie
Color Club - Cosmic Fate
Bundle Monster - BM215 plate
I think this one would have turned out better if I had used a darker color to stamp with. While, I think the subtle design looks awesome in person, but it just loses all that in photos. Bah. Like I said, frustrations abound with this post.

I will be posting the next prompt later today so I can get back on schedule. Do check back this after noon!

Zoya Summer Pixie Dust Collection (Pic Heavy)

Hello everyone! I am so flippin' excited about today's post. I have the entire summer Pixie Dust collection, from Zoya, swatched for you guys! To be honest, when this whole textured trend started, I was heavily against it. None of the promo pics from any brand looked good, in my opinion. Once I started seeing swatches of the original Pixie Dust line, I was mildly interested. Then Zoya announced the summer collection, full of bright, sparkly colors. I was done for. I have lusted after these beauties for almost two months before I was able to get the whole collection. I totally splurged and it was totally worth it. This collection is at the top of my list for all time favs. They are that gorgeous!!!
The formula and application is the same for each, so I'll go over all that here. For each color, I used 2 coats. Application was easy with no typical problems that you would normally see with glitter type polishes. Formula was a good consistency as well. I did let the first initial coat dry before I applied the second coat. Dry time was a little bit longer than a typical polish. Removal was easy as well. I didn't have to resort to foil, just a cotton ball soaked with acetone remover. There is a bit of glitter residue after removal, so it can be kinda messy!

Please Note: Products were purchased by me for my own personal use.

Zoya Pixie Dust - Solange
Solange in a bright lemon yellow textured polish with gold and orange glitter. This is the one I wasn't expecting to like. In every picture online (including mine) it looks very metallic, but in person it is bright and cheery and sooooo sparkly! I think it may be the sparkliest one of the bunch. Absolutely gorgeous.

Zoya Pixie Dust - Beatrix
Beatrix is a juicy tangerine orange textured polish with gold glitter. Excuse me while I pass out from the awesomeness of this polish! Perfect for summer and just plain beautiful.

Zoya Pixie Dust - Destiny
Destiny is a red toned coral textured polish with gold glitter. If I had to pick a favorite (and that would be almost impossible) Destiny would be it. Mainly because I am obsessed with coral. Have I mentioned that already? Pretty sure I have...
Anyway. As soon as I got my package, I swatched this one first. The gold glitter plays so well with the warm coral and the crystalline effect of the Pixie Dust. Swoon.

Zoya Pixie Dust - Miranda
Miranda is a berry colored textured polish with silver glitter. Okay, so I'm not really a pink nail polish fan, but this is so pretty! The color base is almost jelly-like and tints the silver glitter a bit. Out of all the summer colors, this is the most work-appropriate color. It's not terrible bright, compared to the others, and looks like a more traditional polish, just with a bit more sparkle.

Zoya Pixie Dust - Stevie
Stevie is a lavender textured polish with silver glitter. It is a tiny bit darker and slightly more red than my pictures. My camera hates purple and wants to turn them all blue. Lame, I know. The silver glitter really stands out in this polish and is so much better looking in person.

Zoya Pixie Dust - Liberty
Liberty is a cobalt blue textured polish with silver glitter. The polish base is similar to Miranda with a jelly type consistency, giving the silver glitter a blue tint. Love me some blue polish, and this one is so pretty!

What can I say, other than I love them all. The matte sparkle is absolutely stunning in person and pictures just can't do it justice. My personal faves are Destiny, Beatrix and Liberty, but they are all gorgeous and if you are a magpie (like me), you need some Pixie Dust in your life!

Zoya Pixie Dust is available on line at Polishes retail for $9 a piece.

Please Note: Products were purchased by me for my own personal use. All opinions are my own. For more information, please see my disclosure policy, here

Pomegranate Lacquer - Royal Fairy Tale Collection

Hey all! Today I am taking a little break from the challenge for some swatches! I am having a blast with the challenge prompts, but I love swatching and it feels good to share some new pretties with you guys!

Pomegranate Lacquer is one of the first indie brands I fell in love with. The quality of the polish is always amazing, and the colors are always fun and exciting. Tina, the creator/founder generously offered two colors of my choice from the newest collection, Royal Fairy Tale, for review. The collection boasts 14 rich colors with a variety of finishes (cream, foil, glitter, metallic). It is such a great selection and it definitely has something for everyone. I had such a hard time choosing the two polishes for my review!

Please Note: Products were provided to me by Pomegranate Lacquer for my honest review.

Pomegranate Lacquer - Fit For A Prince
Fit For A Prince is a gorgeous deep cobalt blue cream. It is a little bit darker the Baker St, but in the same color family. Naturally, I love it! Formula was creamy and thick, my idea of a perfect polish! One flawless coat for full coverage. Dry time was slightly longer than average, due to the thicker formula. It also stains pretty badly, so a good base coat is needed.

Pomegranate Lacquer - Royal Brat
Royal Brat is a bright, crisp apple green jelly. Oh I love jellies, and this one is so great! The color is perfection, definitely a nice change to all the emerald green polishes that have been released this year. Formula was good for a jelly. 3 coats for full opacity, but you need to give each coat a few minutes to dry before you apply another one. Pretty standard.

For this collection, Pomegranate Lacquer changed up the bottle and logo giving a more vintage feel. I wasn't sold on the redesign until I saw them in person. I really love the new bottles, but they do hold a bit less polish than the previous square shaped bottles. The price, however, is reflected in the change. They are about 50 cents cheaper than before.
If you missed out on the older colors, they are still available and marked down for clearance. Prices range from $4.50 to $6, with free shipping for purchases over $27.
Pomegranate Lacquer is available on line at The Royal Fairy Tale collection is $8.50 per bottle.

Products shown were provided by Pomegranate Lacquer for my honest review. All opinions are my own. For more information please read my disclaimer.

KbShimmer Summer Collection Preview

Hey guys and gals! Normally I don't post two times in one day, but this is something I am super excited about! If you are a regular here, you know I love KbShimmer polishes. My collection may be small, but all the ones I do have are fantastic! Yesterday, a press release announcement landed in my email with news of an upcoming summer collection, and it is awesome!
"The summer lineup includes one glitter top coat, two glitter crellys in a white base and six bright, bold polishes, two in a matte finish.  KBShimmer will also be expanding their nail care line to include two scented cuticle oils and liquid nail prep. “Our new line was created to play off the bolder palette of summer, some inspired by the 80’s and 90s, but also to celebrate the patriotic season. One of our polishes plays off the color of the year, Emerald Green, and will ease people into the summer while two others were inspired by the fall 2013 Pantone colors Koi and Vivacious. Both will make for an easy transition through the summer and into the fall.  We are also excited to unveil two scented cuticle oils in an easy-applicator pen.  We hope to inspire and motivate people to go out in the sun and show off their nails!”

I am really excited about this collection! Gorgeous glitters, bright creams, and "What's Your Damage" is totally calling my name, like whoa! The Dancing Green, Totally Tubular and It's Razz-ical are too. Btw, dying over these 80's inspired names! Love them!
Hope you enjoyed the eye candy!

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Stripes

Hello lovelies! Stripes today! I have to say, that this was probably one of the harder ones for me so far, for two reasons. One, I changed my mind several times before deciding on a design and color palette. And two, because I am a perfectionist.
O.P.I. - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Straw-Ready
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Butter-Fly Stroke
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Blue-Ming Fast
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Black Out
Striping Tape
Creating stripes with striping tape is incredibly easy. Making sure they are evenly spaced is not. As much as I love the outcome, I haaaaaated doing it! So much so, that I didn't even bother doing my thumb. Also, this was so time consuming. I know a majority of nail art is, but man! this was super annoying.

My unfinished thumb, which is actually nice so you can see what it looks like underneath the black!
I have some swatches for you guys over the next few days, and then back to the challenge posts!

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Polka Dots

Hey guys! I know I left you all hangin' last week and I apologize! It was a pretty crappy week for me, and I, unintentionally, went radio silent. But I haven't given up on my 31 day posts. In fact, I have the next prompt today, polka dots!

O.P.I. - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Grape Race
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - In Record Lime
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Blue-Ming Fast
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri - Butter-Fly Stroke
Dotting Tools
When I decided to start this challenge, I took to Pinterest for nail art ideas and inspiration. I am not really an abstract thinker and I can rarely pull an idea out of my head without some sort of starting point. The idea for this mani originated here. I love the look, especially for spring/summer. Fun, bright and colorful!  It is definitely one of my favorites for the challenge.
The dots were a little tricky to keep even, but I have found my patience for doing more complicated designs is improving. Hopefully that trend continues!

 Stripes is up next!

Rescue Beauty Lounge - Turn It Around (PIC Heavy)

Hello all! Happy Mother's Day to all you fellow mamas out there! Since it is Mother's Day, I wanted to share my gift, of course it's nail polish! I usually ask for Rescue Beauty Lounge polish for gifts, and with the new "Emoting Me" collection having just been released, it was meant to be!
Out of all the colors, Turn It Around really stood out for two reasons - it is beyond unique and the inspiration behind it is something I hold dear, and try to live by.

Please Note: Products were purchased by me for my own personal use.

From Ji -
Once I understood the universe's law of polarity, everything made perfect sense. Negatives can’t exist without positives. If I never allow pain to wash over me, then joy becomes meaningless. From this color's dark mossy green pond, a vivid, glittering cast of copper shimmer welcomes me back to joy
Rescue Beauty Lounge - Turn It Around
Turn It Around is a deep mossy green with a vibrant pink copper shimmer. This is no hidden shimmer, folks. This is a glowy, warm, look at me! shimmer. It offsets the dark, murky depths of the polish base. It is stunning. And I don't say that. Like ever. Turn It Around is quite the chameleon shade. Sometimes I see a warm bronze, others a cool deep navy, along side the dark green. Formula was a tad thick. This is one slow and careful coat, you may need two, depending on how you polish. If you do need a second coat, I would suggest waiting a few minutes to avoid dragging. Dry time is a little bit slower than average, so a good quick dry top coat is a must. I used butter London PD Quick.

Ugh, dat shimmah! This close up is the best I could get with my camera. It kinda freaked out and didn't know how to process it. I had to adjust the settings quite a bit for it to show up at all! But, holy balls, it is gorgeous.

Turn It Around and the rest of the "Emoting Me" collection is available online via the Rescue Beauty Lounge website. Polishes retail between $18 - $20.

Please Note: Products were purchased by me for my own personal use. All opinions are my own. For more information, please see my disclosure policy, here.

Pipe Dream Polish

Hey guys! I am super excited to share a brand new Indie polish with you all! Pipe Dream Polish opened in March and currently has 16 gorgeous glitters available through Etsy.

Today I have three polishes from the sixteen, Pink Elephants And Lemonade, Candy On The Beach, and Deep In My Daydreams.

Please Note: Products were provided to me by Pipe Dream Polish at a discount for my honest review.

Pipe Dream Polish - Pink Elephants And Lemonade
Pink Elephants And Lemonade is a dusty teal jelly with small matte pink and yellow hex glitters. Such a fun color combo and I instantly fell in love. This is actually the polish I first saw in my Etsy feed, whilst perusing for polish. Definitely unique. Formula was fantastic, a bit thick since it is an Indie, but that's how I like 'em. 2 perfectly smooth coats for full coverage with no drag at all. The amount of glitter is also spot on. With the 2 coats, I was able to get just the right amount out and on my nails.

Pipe Dream Polish - Candy On The Beach

Candy On The Beach is a bright red-leaning coral jelly with red/orange mylar hex glitters in various sizes. Hello new favorite polish! Have I mentioned how obsessed I am with coral polish lately? This one will definitely be one of my go-to polishes this summer! Formula was identical to Pink Elephants, thick and smooth, 2 coats, great glitter distribution. Oh, and those gorgeous mylar glitters? They make the polish glow. It's so pretty!

Pipe Dream Polish - Deep In My Daydreams
Deep In My Daydreams is a bright magenta with a subtle purple shimmer and small navy blue hex glitters and blue micro holo glitter. The shimmer is noticeable, but very hard to capture with my camera. It gives the polish the deep glowy look, like it's lit from within. It's so dreamy and very worthy of it's name. The formula was a tad bit thinner than the previous two. Nothing problematic, just enough for me to notice. 2 coats, smooth application, no issues.

I am wonderfully pleased with all three polishes. They are beautiful, fun colors and great polishes. I can absolutely say that Pipe Dream Polish is a fantastic Indie brand and you should go order yourself a bottle right now!
Pipe Dream Polish is available on Etsy. Polishes retail for $7 a piece.
Please Note: Products were provided to me by Pipe Dream Polish at a discount for my honest review. All opinions are my own. For more information, see my Disclosure Policy, here.

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Gradient

Hey all, better late than never, right!? Today's 31 Day post is all about gradients. I previously did a gradient for Day 3, but this time I went all out with a multi colored gradient mani.
Sally Hansen Insta-Dry - Man-Go Team
Sally Hansen Insta-Dry - Straw-Ready
Sally Hansen Insta-Dry - Grape Race
All colors from the new summer LE Sally Hansen Insta-Dry collection. Gradients may be my new favorite thing, cause it turned out so pretty!

I even did a little something extra for an accent nail. I saw this gorgeous butterfly manicure from The Little Canvas and wanted to try it over the gradient. I love iiiiiitttt!!!!!!!
I've got some great swatches coming up this weekend and then Polka Dots, next Tuesday!
