Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired By A Book

Hey guys and gals! Today is another Twinsie Tuesday post, this week's theme is Inspired By A Book. I am super excited about this one because, as most of you know, I am a huuuuuuuuuge book lover. There is rarely a time that I do not have a book that I am reading. Fantasy is probably my favorite genre, anything to do with magic or fairy tale creatures. My current literary obsession is the Throne Of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. It is absolutely one of the best (if not the best) series I have read. Ever. Just two books and four novellas into the story and I am dead hooked!

At the end of the second book, Crown Of Midnight, Celaena (the heroine/badass) summons wild fire - a magic fire that burns blue instead of orange and red. And that is what I decided to do for my post today!

Wavy Accents Nail Of The Day

Hi friends! Hope you guys are having a great Friday! How's that polar vortex treating you?! The weather has been nuts here! Needless to say, Texans are not well equipped dealing with crazy winter weather, and I am staying home with my girlie today, in front of a nice warm fire!

So, like most you of I'm sure, my inspiration for nail art comes from some very talented ladies. This NOTD is no exception. Sammie from The Nailasaurus is pretty amazing, and I have already given a few of her designs a go. My current fav, is the wavy gradient sort of look that she recently did. I gave it my spin, and picked out a color palette that I am loving so much right now. And I added studs. Because studs.

Used:

O.P.I. - MVIB
Revlon - Urban
O.P.I. - Funky Dunky
Bettina - Wild Orchid

Born Pretty Studs

I'm pretty sure this is one of my all time favorite designs I have ever ever done. It just looks so frickin perfect! It just makes me super happy looking at them. And naturally, I am thinking of how many ways I can replicate this and what colors would look awesome. I definitely think a citrus toned designs would be bananas!

On a side note, Wild Orchid is the only Bettina I have and I really love it. Bettina isn't sold any where near me, and I am a sad polish addict. I know there is a lady who does wholesale orders (I found the contact info a long time ago, but have since lost it). But I am wondering what colors would be good to put on a wishlist? Do you guys have any Bettina? Any favs that I absolutely need?

Have a great weekend, and try to freeze!

Christmas Holly - Holiday Nail Art Spectacular

Merry freakin' Christmas y'all!!! Happy holidays, and happy Wednesday, otherwise. Since it is Christmas day and all, I figured that I should share my most awesome holiday mani. Last year was the first time I attempted nail art and I did a simple little holly berry design. So I thought it would be kinda fun to do another holly berry themed mani this year!

I was inspired by the incredibly talented Amanda K. on Instagram. You should really check out her profile, it is full of amazing nail art!

Used:

Nubar - Ruby Red Glitz
O.P.I. - MBSW
Revlon - Posh

Dotting tools
Nail art brush

I love this so much! It turned out so so pretty. Totally classic and simple design, my favorite.

Well that wraps up my holiday nail art spectacular! I hope you guys liked all the different designs that I shared! I definitely had a lot of fun doing them, and am looking forward to next year already!

I kinda had a blogger fail yesterday, and didn't get the holiday party post up. I spent all morning baking cookies, instead, oops! Instead, I will be posting it in a few days for a NYE party post! Have a great day!!!

Rose Cutaway

Hello my fellow polish friends! I hope you all are having a great weekend! I have a bit of nail art for today's post, something I have wanted to do for quite a while, but always forgot about.

The original inspiration comes from a set of NCLA wraps, but also from the most awesome nail art blog,  One Nail To Rule Them All.

Used:

O.P.I. - MVIB
(besides MBSW, this is an amazing base for nail art!!!)
O.P.I. - Black Onyx
Color Club - Coral Cascade
Essie - A Crewed Interest
Revlon - Posh

Striping tape
Nail art brush
Dotting tool

I really love this. So frickin much! And even though it looks complicated, it's super easy! I got quite a few compliments from the others moms at my kiddo's school when I wore these. One even asked if I would do her nails, if she paid me!

Well, that's all for today! I have a tooooon of swatching to catch up on, so hopefully, there will be lots of pretty polish on the blog next week!

Rainbow Tribal (sort of) and Austin Pride 2013

Hey y'all! Today is Pride Fest, here in town, and like last year, I did a little nail art to commemorate. I won't go into a whole long speech about LGBT rights or anything like that, because this is a nail blog, not a political blog. But I do consider myself to be a part of the LGBT community (if you really want to know all about it, you can read my post here) and if I can't go out to the parade, then I'll be sporting rainbows for sure!

Used:

China Glaze - Glistening Snow
O.P.I. - MBSW
Bondi NY - Horny Mistress
Wet N Wild - The Clock Strikes Orange (Pop Art Craze)
Julep - Lexie
Revlon - Posh
China Glaze - Sunday Funday
Bondi NY - Uptown Girl

Nail Art brush

I'm not too sure about the outcome. In all honesty, this is my fifth attempt. Every time I tried to do a design, I ended up not liking it at all. This one was way better in my head, but I was done trying and my cuticles couldn't take anymore acetone!

Oh well, at least they are rainbow!

Happy Pride, Austin! I love you and am so proud to be part of an amazing city!

Due to the nature of this post, I will ban any commenters participating in hate speech. You are entitled to your opinion, but do not even think about sharing it here. Thank you.

Polish Days: To Boldly Go

Hey y'all! It's time for another addition of Polish Days. This month's theme is "To Boldly Go" and anything that might entail. There are a lot of different ways to interpret this, but I immediately thought of constellations!

Used:

Revlon - Royal
China Glaze - Glistening Snow
O.P.I. - My Boyfriend Scales Walls

Dotting Tool

Just a quick clarification before I get into the details of the mani. Glistening Snow doesn't look like this straight out of the bottle. It is a full coverage holo glitter, but I mixed it with a clear polish I had to thin it down.

Anyway, I tried to recreate some more well known constellations, Cygnus the swan on my index finger, little dipper on my middle, cancer the crab (my birth month constellation) on my ring finger, and Orion's belt on my pinkie. Love, love, love how it turned out! It may be hard to take this one off.

Be sure to check out all the other participants! For more info and the sign up link, click here to go to the Polish Days main page.

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Floral

Second post today! Floral is the theme for this post, and I was inspired by this poppy design from Little Nails. I actually found it via Pinterest and had to do some digging to find the proper source, as it wasn't credited at all. I love using Pinterest for nail art inspiration, but jeeze it can be difficult to find the original artist.

Used:

O.P.I. - My Boyfriend Scales Walls
Maybelline Color Show - Paint The Town
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Black Out
Revlon - Posh

Dotting Tool
Nail Art Brush

I really love poppies. They are so simple, yet so beautiful at the same time. Overall, I am really pleased with how this turned out. I kinda wish I had made different colored poppies, but was feeling completely uninspired at the time. Still pretty, I think.

A new Fashion Friday collab post is on the schedule for tomorrow, and it's pretty dang awesome!

Revlon Chroma Chameleon Amethyst

Hello lovelies! Short and sweet post today, no need for a lot of chatter when there's a pretty duo chrome to swoon over!

Revlon recently released a Limited Edition line of Duo Chrome polishes called Chroma Chameleon; great name, not so great (as in waaaay over done) collection. Every single polish has been done before, and within the last year even. Most are dupes of the China Glaze New Bohemian Luster Chromes, and of course there's even a Peridot version. Amethyst is the only one that I haven't seen a bajillion replicas, so naturally that is the one I grabbed! Pretty sure it's a dupe of Zoya Ki, however.

Please Note: All products in this post were purchased by me for my own personal use.

Revlon Chroma Chameleon - Amethyst

Amethyst is a smokey purple/steel grey/green multi chrome. The color shift is really strong, but only in daylight. The formula was good, a lot more manageable than the Sally Hansen Lustre Shines, comparable to the China Glaze ones. A bit thin on the first coat, solid in 2 if you are careful. I ended up using 3 because I had a few patchy spots. Quick dry time, no application issues.

After all the duo chrome collections from last year, I am kinda burnt out, especially since there hasn't been anything new or exciting in any of them. For me, this is just a rehash and a big ol' let down. Out of eight polishes, this is the only one I liked, and for a hoarder like me, that usually doesn't happen.

These are limited edition, so if you missed out on any of other duo chrome collections, and you want to grab some, get them while you can. They retail for about $9 a piece and are available in many drugstore locations.

Products shown were purchased by me for my own personal use. All opinions are my own.

Nail of the Day: A Little Whimsy

Revlon Whimsical is one of my favorite polishes - in the bottle. It's a drugstore dupe of Deborah Lippman's Glitter in the Air, and some say it's a better polish than it's pricey counterpart. When I found it shelved at the local grocery store, I snatched it up immediately. After three failed applications, and about 1/4 of the bottle gone, I gave up on it. I gave it one more shot again today, layering it over a sift purple shimmer (Zoya Marley), and decided it was okay.

Revlon Whimsical over Zoya Marley

This is one coat Marley with four coats Whimsical. Marley greys Whimsical up a bit, but also brightens it as well. Alone, it looked very dirty against my skin tone. It definitely needs a polish undie coat. Also, due to the jelly nature of Whimsical, it needs a few minutes of dry time in between each coat, or it will bubble (mine has every single time >_< ). Even though I love this polish in the bottle (it is so dreamy!), I just wish I could find something similar that was a better polish.
