Hi friends! A very happy Monday to you all! I cannot get over how close we are until the big day, and the end of the year. It has definitely been a roller coaster for me and I am hoping to have a nice quiet finish, lol! Not sure if that is going to happen, but one can always hope, right?

Saturday Snapshot: Multichrome Flakie Gradient

Hi friends! So I am currently in East Texas visiting my family for the holidays, but I didn't want the blog to be inactive while I was gone, so I am sharing a quick post of my nails for the trip. Well at least what was on them before I left. I brought a few polishes to play with while I am here, so no guarantee what they look like now!

If you are active in the nail community on IG, then I am sure you have seen the amazing new multichrome flakies that have been making their way into many Indie polishes. In fact, I just swatched some lovelies from Takko Lacquer a few days ago! 

One of the big release was a full line of thirteen multichrome flakies from ILNP, and I couldn't help but to get a few during the pre-sale! This is just a quick little gradient I did with one of them, but next week I will have full glorious swatches of the three I did pick up!

Hi friends! How are you all doing, this fine Wednesday? I am happy to say that my cold is all but gone and I am feeling great! No stress, no illness for once and it is a welcome change. The last two months have been a roller coaster and my poor blog has really been neglected. But such is life. We all have highs and lows and sometimes our priorities shift. So I, once again, thank you all for your patience and encouraging words. It really does mean a lot to me! Okay, enough sap, lol!

Saturday Snapshot: New Nail Shape and an Old Favorite

Hello friends! I could not be happier for the weekend. We have some fun and relaxing things planned out for today and tomorrow. It's a nice change of pace since July was super crazy around here. 

Today is a short and sweet post to share with you all the new shape of my nails. I know square is a more traditional shape in blogging, but I have been itching for a change! I have had square nails for about two years now and after dealing with corner breaks and wonky curls, I finally took a chance and went round.

Hey friends! Happy Friday! Today starts our spring break, and I am really looking forward to a nice relaxing time and maybe a few adventures in the (hopefully) nice weather!

Unless you are new to the polish world, I'm sure you all know about ILNP Ultra Chromes and the riiiiidiculous color shifts that dance across your nails. The spring collection has three new ultra chromes, and out of all of them, Sirène called my name. After the epic Nostalgia, I wasn't sure if I could be blown away again. But Barbra and her magic potions did not disappoint.

I Love Nail Polish - Sirène

Sirène is a purple/turquoise ultra chrome. It has such an incredible color shift, from a reddish bronze at extreme angles, to violet, blue, teal and emerald green. Needless to say, it was so hard to capture all the colors, but I tried! This is truly a stunning polish! Formula was good, a little on the thick side, similar to Nostalgia, but nothing problematic. I did have more visible brush strokes this time around, so be sure not to overwork the polish when painting.

I can't even begin to wrap my head around all that goodness. Just like Nostalgia, I was mesmerized the entire time I wore it. They go on sale today! So be sure to grab a bottle before they are all gone!

ILNP Nostalgia

Hey everyone! How is your weekend? We are going to check out the most awesome Trail of Lights at Zilker Park tonight! It is a wonderful holiday light display that the city of Austin puts on every year, and it is my most favorite tradition! I will probably spam my IG feed with pics tonight!

 

Today, I have an incredible polish to share! The fantastic Indie brand, ILNP (I Love Nail Polish), has recently released a line of Ultra Chrome polishes that boast insane color shifts. As part of a LE holiday trio, Barbra created the Ultra Chrome, Nostalgia - a multi chrome that shifts mainly from green to red, but let me tell you, there is sooooooooo much more! On to the pics!

ILNP - Nostalgia

 

Nostalgia is a multi chrome polish that shifts from deep emerald green to bronze to yellow gold to red to fuchsia. I have even caught glimpses of teal and purple flashes. Let me preface by saying, my camera loathes multi chromes. It is always reluctant to capture color shifts. Nostalgia is so dramatic that it took amazing pictures! In person, it is even more stunning! I was constantly looks at my nails for the three days I wore it. Nostalgia has some serious hypnotic powers, folks! Formula was quite good as well. This is two coats, by itself. No layering over black to get this effect! Minimal brush strokes, and it applied smoothly. It did seem to dry a tad bit longer than regular polish. Nothing a good quick dry top coat can't solve!

 

 

I ordered this during the pre sale, and I am not sorry one bit! This is truly an amazing polish, and you will be seeing it again when I post my top ten polishes for the year. I will probably be ordering a back up of this in fact! So if you are on a no-buy, break it, cause Nostalgia is sooooo worth it! You will thank me!

Bliss Polish SOA Collection

Hey y'all! Hope you are ready for a new collection from Bliss Polish! If you can believe it, Yvette has created another batch of beauties and this time, they are all inspired by Sons Of Anarchy. The collection has a little bit of everything going on; mattes, glitters, holos, and even a thermal and a duo chrome. I have four out of the seven colors from the set.

Bliss Polish - Gemma (thermal, cold state)

 

Gemma is an oxblood thermal with gold shimmer and scattered holo micro glitter. In it's warm state, shown below, it transitions to a bright cherry red. I love thermals, even though this is only my second one. The transition is great and really noticeable. The formula is a little on the thicker side, but not problematic. 2 coats for full opacity.

Bliss Polish - Tara

 

Tara is a fuchsia pink duo chrome that flashes to a warm orangey pink with a bright purple shimmer and tiny iridescent flakies. The color shift is really nice, and I was really surprised how much I liked this one! A tiny bit brush stroke, but no other issues. Almost a one coater, but I added a second to give the shimmer a nice boost.

 

 

 

Bliss Polish - Jax (matte)

 

Jax is a gunmetal silver that dries to a matte finish. It has the tiniest holo shimmer, but completely gets swallowed by the pigment. Even with a glossy top coat, it was very hard to capture any of the holo goodness. Kind of a let down. The formula was less than stellar as well. First coat was very patchy, a thick second coat did smooth everything out.

Bliss Polish - Mayem

 

Mayhem is a black crelly (cream/jelly hybrid) with scattered holo glitter. I was unable to get any decent picks of this out in the sun due to some (wonderful!) rainy weather. The holo is very subtle indoors, otherwise. Formula was similar to Jax, patchy and streaky on the first coat, with second to smooth it all out.

 

I'm not a fan of Son's Of Anarchy, so I can't comment on the interpretations, but I do love Gemma and Tara - the polishes. Funny since red and pink polishes are not at all thing I usually like. These four, along with the rest are in stock and ready for you to snag!

Revlon Chroma Chameleon Amethyst

Hello lovelies! Short and sweet post today, no need for a lot of chatter when there's a pretty duo chrome to swoon over!

 

Revlon recently released a Limited Edition line of Duo Chrome polishes called Chroma Chameleon; great name, not so great (as in waaaay over done) collection. Every single polish has been done before, and within the last year even. Most are dupes of the China Glaze New Bohemian Luster Chromes, and of course there's even a Peridot version. Amethyst is the only one that I haven't seen a bajillion replicas, so naturally that is the one I grabbed! Pretty sure it's a dupe of Zoya Ki, however.

Revlon Chroma Chameleon - Amethyst

 

Amethyst is a smokey purple/steel grey/green multi chrome. The color shift is really strong, but only in daylight. The formula was good, a lot more manageable than the Sally Hansen Lustre Shines, comparable to the China Glaze ones. A bit thin on the first coat, solid in 2 if you are careful. I ended up using 3 because I had a few patchy spots. Quick dry time, no application issues.

After all the duo chrome collections from last year, I am kinda burnt out, especially since there hasn't been anything new or exciting in any of them. For me, this is just a rehash and a big ol' let down. Out of eight polishes, this is the only one I liked, and for a hoarder like me, that usually doesn't happen.

 

These are limited edition, so if you missed out on any of other duo chrome collections, and you want to grab some, get them while you can. They retail for about $9 a piece and are available in many drugstore locations.

New 2013 Hard Candy Polish (Pic Heavey)

Hello everyone, happy Wednesday! Today's post is full of sparkly, shiny goodness! Hard Candy has recently reinvented themselves and released a whole slew of new products, including 45 new nail polish colors. While the old vintage Hard Candy bottles with the cool little heart shaped ring are gone, the essence of the bright and fun polish is still there. I stumbled across a display at my local Wal-Mart and promptly snagged a few bottles!

Hard Candy - Piece of Papaya (Itzy Glitzy)

 

Piece of Papaya, from the Itzy Glitzy finish, is a bright fuchsia pink and golden glass fleck polish. It is almost a foil, but the particles are smaller than a traditional foil. It is SO shiny and I love it. I am not a pink person, but throw in a golden shimmer, and I am done. Perfect for summer, or any time you want something shiny and sparkly! Formula was spot on. Smooth and flowy, perfect consistency. 2 coats, great dry time. Seriously great.

 

 

 

Hard Candy - Bitty Blue (Itzy Gltizy)

 

Bitty Blue, another one from the Itzy Glitzy finish, is more of what a glass fleck typically looks like. Bright, shiny blue. OMG, hello gorgeous! Same formula as before, and I was just as amazed!

 

 

Hard Candy - Peach Pop (Candy Sprinkles)

 

Peach Pop, from the Candy Sprinkles finish, is a milky peach base with tiny red, pink and silver glitter pieces. The look is identical to the Nails Inc Sprinkles collection from last year, but with quite a few more color options (as well as some dupes). Perfect color, and I do like it a lot more than the Nails Inc ones. Formula was, again, great. Smooth, 2 coats, dried quickly. No issues with all that glitter either.

 

 

Hard Candy - Crush On Lava (Crushed Chrome)

 

Crush on Lava, from the Crushed Chrome finish, is a violet and copper foil. This has the bigger foil pieces, as opposed to the Itzy Glitzy polishes, and is simply brilliant. Once again, great formula. Just as good as the previous ones.

 

 

If you are wondering whether or not Crushed On Lava is a re-promote of the beloved Beetle, it almost is. The overall look is nearly identical, but the base color of the polish is just slightly different.

 

Beetle has a bit of green in the base that gives a duo chrome look, unfortunately Crush On Lava is missing it. The formula is way better in the new version. Beetle is a bit thin, and requires more coats and takes longer to dry. So, that makes up for the color change, at least for me. I do think it is pretty great of Hard Candy to give us one of the best colors they have ever made, in the new line, even if it slightly off.

 

 

I am completely blown away with the polishes I picked up. Great formula, great colors, great price. $4 a bottle, is pretty dang awesome. A lot of the colors are very similar to what other brands have been putting out lately, so nothing is terribly unique, but it is a good thing to have options. Dupes happen, and I'm not complaining!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Black & Blue

Hey all! Here's my 101st post! I'm still really excited to have made it to that first big milestone. Don't forget to check out the give away going on for my 100th post special ; )

 

Today, I have another one of the new reformulated Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes that have recently been released. This one is a duo chrome!

 

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure - Black & Blue

 

Black & Blue is a blue/purple duo chrome in a blackened base. It is a beautiful polish, but the duo chrome color shift is really weak. So weak, I couldn't even pick it up with my camera. You get a nice purple flash in very low lighting, but that's about it. The purple glow around the edges is pretty much all you see otherwise. Formula was okay, nothing fantastic, though. 3 coats, as it applies a bit sheer. I also used a top coat because it dried rather dull. Average dry time, as well.

 

I feel a bit underwhelmed by it, overall. Sally Hansen can do a killer duo chrome when they want to, and I was expecting a little more from this color. But not everything can be amazing!

What do you all think? Is it worth it despite the disappointing color shift?

Pretty Serious: They Came from Beyond Space (Pic Heavy)

Hey everyone! Today I have swatches from the newest (mini) collection from the awesome Aussie brand, Pretty Serious. A couple of weeks ago, I posted the press release for this collection & have been waiting for the bottles to arrive in my mail box since then. When they were delivered yesterday, I swatched them as soon as I got them, and all three are as gorgeous and as multichrome as the bottle shots.

Formula was identical on all three, so I'll go over that after all the pretty pictures.

 

Atomic Brain, Galaxy Invader, Phantom Planet

 

 

Pretty Serious - Atomic Brain

 

Atomic Brain is a vivid purple foil with a strong bronze/rose color shift. This was the first one I swatched (with some help of some twitter friends) & I instantly fell in love. Foils are my absolute fav finish & to have such a strong multichrome foil makes me weak in the knees.

 

 

 

 

Pretty Serious - Galaxy Invader

 

Galaxy Invader is a bright royal blue with a serious pink/purple/aqua color shift. This one was the strongest shift out of the three with the most color range and it was the hardest to capture on camera. It is so much more incredible in person.

 

 

 

 

Pretty Serious - Phantom Planet

 

Phantom Planet is a lime green foil with a more subdued blue/gold color shift. It is the weakest one out of the three, but still visible. It's actually my favorite!

 

 

This is my first experience with Pretty Serious, and I was incredibly pleased. Multichromes are very much sought after and this collection is a must for anyone who loves the color shifting polishes. Formula was perfect, smooth and flowy, not too thick and not too thin. I used two coats for all swatches, and had great coverage all on their own, no need for black undercoat with these lovelies. Dry time was a little longer, but they are foils, and foils tend to be slower than other finishes. Overall, they are great polishes and I can now add Pretty Serious to my list of favorite brands!
