Embellished Gradient with Born Pretty Water Decals

Hey everyone! Happy Thursday afternoon! Sorry for the late posting, I totally forgot about today's post and never had it written up. Oops!

Today, I have the second of three Born Pretty product reviews for you all. If you missed the first one from last Thursday you can read it here. For this week's post I am reviewing some water decals!

Please Note: Products shown were provided by the company/creator for review purposes.

The package contains one sheet of 24 water decals in various designs. The instructions are printed on the back of the package as well.

Used:

O.P.I. - MBSW
Floss Gloss - Wavepool
Floss Gloss - Pony

Make up Sponge

The directions are fairly simple, much like the temporary tattoos that you apply with water. I cut out the individual pieces that I wanted to use. After my nails were completely dry from the gradient application, I soaked each piece in warm water, dipped my nail in water to moisten it (as per the directions) and placed the soaked decal on my nail with a pair of tweezers. They slide off rather quickly and there is really no room for error. But I did find that if the decals started to curl in on themselves, I could dip my finger back in the water and they would loosen up, allowing me to gently uncurl them and adjust the placement. The last step was problematic for me, however. After I dabbed off the water with a paper towel and allow my nails to dry thoroughly, I applied my top coat and the decal smeared horribly. I had to redo the entire gradient! Thankfully it was just one nail, but still! Total pain. And just to be sure it wasn't my top coat, I tried the decals again with different top coats and each time they smeared.

Even with the smearing issue, I do really like the water decals. It felt weird not applying a top coat, but the decals wore fine with out it. I tested them out the entire day and after showers, kiddo wrangling and doing dishes, they had minimal wear. A lot less than what I was expecting not having a top coat to seal them.

They are a fun and easy way to add some interest to a simple mani, or push your gradients over the top like mine. I have a 10% discount code to go along with the water decals too! If you want to try them out for yourself, be sure to use the code GETG10 at checkout!
