LOOK Nail Color

Hi all! So today I have a new drugstore polish brand to share with you all! You may have seen a few displays popping up at your local Walgreens already. The brand is called Look Nail Color and it is geared towards nail art! Fun, right? I was sent three polishes from the first promo set called "Look Proud" and was released on May 1st.

Please Note: Products shown were provided by the company/creator for review purposes.

Look Nail Color in Broad Stripes Bright Stars, Oh Say Can You See, and Rockets Red Glare

A quick note about the color names. The info sheet I received had both the name and number for the polish. The bottle itself has a generic sticker on the bottom that doesn't match either. IDK? I am assuming that with each promo release that the colors will change names according to the theme. So yeah... On to the swatches!

Look Nail Color Broad Stripes Bright Stars

Broad Stripes Bright Stars (#033) is a basic bright white cream. I was hoping for a good one coat white, because this seemed to be pretty opaque when I swatched it on a nail wheel. Unfortunately, it falls prey to all the issues white polish is known for. It is streaky, patchy and lumpy. This is three coats and it never leveled out. The formula itself is rather thick and hard to work with. I had to be quite patient and careful with my application as it seemed to stick to itself if I painted over an area that wasn't dry and created an uneven layer.

Look Nail Color Oh Say Can You See

Oh Say Can You See (#032) is a royal blue crelly (cream/jelly hybrid). It's not as opaque as a lot of crellies, but it dries to a nice squishy finish. That's about the only thing I liked about it, honestly. It applies very patchy and stains like a mofo. This is three coats and I can still see a couple of patchy spots in person.

Look Nail Color Rockets Red Glare

Rockets Red Glare (#031) is a true red cream. I actually really like the color. I'm not the biggest fan of red polish, but the color is always really flattering on me. This is the best one out of the three. The formula is good with a creamy consistency. It applied evenly without any streaking or patchy spots. This is two coats for full coverage. Unfortunately, it bled like whoa when I applied top coat. And omg the stains!!!! I apologize for them. I tried SO HARD to get them out.

I am so bummed! I was really excited to try out these polishes in hopes that they would be more "paint" like and would be great for nail art since that is how the brand is marketing itself. The polishes are far from amazing and in fact are not really ideal for nail art. I can only vouch for these three, but I'm skeptical of the rest of the line. Thick, streaky and patchy polishes do not make good products to paint with.

I do like the idea that the colors are curated for a certain theme. As I mentioned above, these are for the "Look Proud" promo and are designed to create more patriotic looks for Memorial Day and July 4th coming up. And I did try, several times, to do a patriotic themed design, but the polishes are so problematic that I got super frustrated and quit. For a polish that inspires and fosters creativity, these miss the mark.

If you want to try them out for yourself, they are sold exclusively at Walgreen's and retail for $6.99 a piece.

  2. For all the problems with the formula, you wear these colours beautifully. The rich blue looks so appealing, and you are so right--the red looks really great on you!
