Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired By Artwork

Hey y'all! Another Tuesday is upon us, and this week's Twinsie Tuesday them is a good one! We are doing nails inspired by artwork! Now if you have followed my blog for a while, you would know that I am an art dork. I studied Fine Arts in college and as well as Photography and Graphic Design. So this theme is right up my alley!

I decided to go with a more graphic look, as opposed to a painterly style and chose Piet Mondrian for my inspiration. His later work is very simplistic and uses very little color, except for primary colors and bold line work to convey depth. (Told you I am an art dork!)

Used:

O.P.I. - MBSW
O.P.I. - Black Onyx
Essie - Dress To Kilt
Essie - Style Cartel
Zoya - Darcy

Man, I need to practice my line work! I used my thin striping brush from Winstonia for the lines and some could definitely be done a little better. Other than that I am really pleased with the outcome! It's not very often that I do detailed nail art anymore, so when inspiration hits, I grab hold!

I am pretty stoked to have fine art painted on my nails, so these will probably stick around for a few days! As always, be sure to check out the rest of the most awesome Twinsies to see what inspiration they chose!

  3. Bridget, I love these! When I saw the little preview shot, I literally went, "Ooh, Mondrian!" out loud. I've wanted to try something like these myself, but I was so nervous about getting the lines straight enough--yours look wonderful!! (^_^)
