Friday Favorites: Red

Hi friends! As promised, today's post is the first part of a new weekly series sharing my favorites from my stash! I decided to go by color, finish and then by brand. So hopefully I will get to use some neglected polish over the next several weeks, and you guys might find a new color or three to try!

Since we're starting with color, the first Favorites post is my fav red polishes! If you have read my blog for a while, you probably know that red isn't a shade I naturally gravitate towards. Over the last few years of polish collecting, I have come across a few reds that I do actually like. Although only one of them is a cream finish, lol! I do like my polish to have a little something extra!

Saturday Snapshot: New Nail Shape and an Old Favorite

Hello friends! I could not be happier for the weekend. We have some fun and relaxing things planned out for today and tomorrow. It's a nice change of pace since July was super crazy around here.

Today is a short and sweet post to share with you all the new shape of my nails. I know square is a more traditional shape in blogging, but I have been itching for a change! I have had square nails for about two years now and after dealing with corner breaks and wonky curls, I finally took a chance and went round.

Christmas Holly - Holiday Nail Art Spectacular

Merry freakin' Christmas y'all!!! Happy holidays, and happy Wednesday, otherwise. Since it is Christmas day and all, I figured that I should share my most awesome holiday mani. Last year was the first time I attempted nail art and I did a simple little holly berry design. So I thought it would be kinda fun to do another holly berry themed mani this year!

I was inspired by the incredibly talented Amanda K. on Instagram. You should really check out her profile, it is full of amazing nail art!

Used:

Nubar - Ruby Red Glitz
O.P.I. - MBSW
Revlon - Posh

Dotting tools
Nail art brush

I love this so much! It turned out so so pretty. Totally classic and simple design, my favorite.

Well that wraps up my holiday nail art spectacular! I hope you guys liked all the different designs that I shared! I definitely had a lot of fun doing them, and am looking forward to next year already!

I kinda had a blogger fail yesterday, and didn't get the holiday party post up. I spent all morning baking cookies, instead, oops! Instead, I will be posting it in a few days for a NYE party post! Have a great day!!!

Peppermint Twist - Holiday Nail Art Spectacular!

Hey y'all, hope all is well! We have a big winter storm blowing in today, and it is super chilly! I love cold weather as long as I am bundled up with a nice warm fire.

Today, I have more Holiday Nail Art Spectacular fun for you guys! A few months ago, I did a guest post for my lovely friend Casey Lane. I made my first attempt at doing spirals, and loved it! I knew it was something that I wanted to replicate again.

Used:

O.P.I. - MBSW
O.P.I. - First Date At The Golden Gate
Nubar - Ruby Red Glitz

Born Pretty nail studs
Nail Art brush

It was a lot easier this time around, and I have to say, I am super pleased with how it turned out! My favorite part is the studs, of course. But I think it is so cute and fun. And a great "twist" on the standard candy can striped nails. See what I did there? Haha, yeah, I'm hilarious.

Hope you guys have a great weekend! It is ridiculously cold here (what evs, I'm from Texas) and I am spending my days inside!

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Red

Hello all! Today is the first post of my adventures doing the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge! The first ten posts are all about color and with that I wanted to keep it simple and really let the color shine. Red is not a polish color I have a lot of, and usually don't wear...like ever. Still, I really like what I came up with!

Used:

SOPI Betsey Johnson - Pushing Your Luck
Nubar - Ruby Red Glitz

Striping Tape

Again, I wanted to do something simple and really show off the color. Striping tape is a great tool for nail art because it is very easy to use, and you can create something really eye catching.

This particular design, is about as easy as it gets. I started with a base of Pushing Your Luck (the only red cream in my collection!), once it was dry, I placed small pieces of striping tape in a random pattern and used an orange stick to make sure they were nice and flat. Next I layered Ruby Red Glitz, peeled off the the tape and finished off with a top coat.

I'm still not sold on the idea of red nails, but I gotta admit, it does look kinda hot. Next up is Orange!

Nubar Swatches

Nubar has been one of those brands that I don't have very much experience with, but love from afar. I broke down a while ago and did a bit of splurging.

Nubar Indigo Illusion

Indigo Illusion is one of Nubar's most popular duo chromes and I could instantly tell why as soon as I swatched it. The color shift, steel grey/blue/purple/pink, is outstanding and incredibly vibrant! Formula was flawless, perfectly thick, great flow and quick dry time. 2 coats to perfect duo chrome goodness. Indigo Illusion was the first one I tried, and it sold me hook line and sinker. I am completely smitten with Nubar!

Nubar Star Dust

Star Dust is another one of Nubar's amazing duo chromes. It has a gorgeous pink/orange/warm golden color shift. Again, the duo chrome effect is very obvious and so lovely. Same amazing formula as Indigo, a tad bit thinner tho. 3 coats for full coverage.

Nubar Gold Feather

Gold Feather is quite the deceptive polish. It is a sheer peach with a fantastic light green shimmer. Together, they create a stunning duo chrome effect. Despite the sheer quality, it took just 3 coats for full coverage.

Nubar Ruby Red Glitz

Ruby Red Glitz is a blue toned red jelly with red glitter. This isn't my usual polish choice. I'm not huge on red colors and tend to pick more unique finishes like Gold Feather. I think I am secretly getting excited for the holidays, and decided a glittery red jelly was just the thing to decorate my nails when December comes around. The glitter is really pretty and very sparkly, just rather hard to capture digitally. 3 coats, again, for full coverage.

Nubar Gem (from the prism collection)

Gem is a metallic purple toned taupe with chunky scattered holo. Out of all the bottles I ordered, this was my least favorite. It appears very pretty in the bottle, with an amazing holo sparkle, but the size of the glitter doesn't exactly sit in the polish, and dries rather gritty. 2 coats for full coverage.

I am definitely a fan of Nubar now, and I can be certain that I will be getting more of their amazing duo chromes! Any recommendation?
